Occupancy

Two(2), per our local lodging license, fire code and house rules. The maximum number of guests allowed at the dwelling is the number agreed upon at the time of booking. Anything above this number is by law considered trespassing and by definition a "party" or “event”. There is to be no PARTIES or EVENTS what-so-ever and violation of this rule as laid out in the rental agreement will be subject to immediate eviction and loss of the security deposit. This includes all children and infants. Should you have any guests over the maximum occupancy there will be a $50 per person per night charge for the total number of nights booked and/or possible loss of deposit and immediate eviction. Prior approval must be given in advance for additional guests to be on the property. Any number of persons above the total maximum occupancy number will immediately be asked to leave the property.

Cell Service

Cell service is very limited at the cabin. Cell phone signal can be spotty in the area though so be prepared for that.

Written Direction:

Use 204 Buffalo Creek Rd Bryson City NC 28713 for a proper location. Then continue past that address to 82 Buffalo Trace Rd. All the cabins are clearly marked.

Guests traveling on I-40 West from Asheville, NC, should take Exit 27 toward Highway 19/Highway 23/Highway 74. Then, take Exit 67 toward Bryson City - Guests traveling on I-85 North from Atlanta, GA, should enter the left lane and merge onto I-985 toward Gainesville, GA. Continue to bear left until you reach Highway 441 North heading toward Franklin, NC. After you've passed the McDonald's and Lowe's on the left-hand side, enter the right lane on Highway 441 and take the bypass to the right. Continue on Highway 441 until it blends with Highway 19 and Highway 74 West. Follow signs toward Bryson City and take Exit 67 - After taking Exit 67, bear right at the bottom of the exit ramp. Drive straight through the first set of lights, then take a left at the second set of lights onto Highway 19 South. Then, drive for approximately a half-mile and turn left onto Hughes Branch Road. Drive for 7/10 of a mile, then turn left onto Shook Road toward Highway 19 and Highway 74. Turn right onto Jenkins Branch Road and drive straight for 1/10 of a mile, then turn left onto East Jenkins Branch Road. Continue down East Jenkins Branch Road and bear left at the fork, following signs for Buffalo Creek Cabins. Drive for 1/10 of a mile, then turn left onto Buffalo Creek Road, which is marked with a sign on the right-hand side. Continue on Buffalo Creek Road until you reach the intersection. At the intersection, turn left toward 82 Buffalo Trace Road. Continue on Buffalo Trace Road until you see the green sign marked '82 Buffalo Trace' with a right-facing arrow. Follow the sign down a 150-yard gravel road until you see the property

Vehicle Limit

2 Vehicle Maximum without prior approval.

Extra vehicles, motorcycles, campers, or trailers of any kind are not permitted without prior approval.

Side by sides, 4-wheel vehicles of any kind are also not permitted on the property.

This cabin is NOT motorcycle friendly due to the gravel roads

There should be NO campers, trailers, etc of any kind

Cabin Entry

There is an electronic keypad code to access the cabin. Your code will be sent to your email address on file two days prior to your arrival.

Check-Out

A few basic reminders, nothing crazy your on mountain time!

Check-out is by 10am.

1. Please take all trash to the outside bin.

2. Please load the dishwasher and do not leave dirty dishes.

3. Check for all personal items.

4. Turn off all lights, electronics, and lock the doors.

5. Safe travels home!

Whirlpool Tub

The whirlpool tub is available for guest use during non-freezing months. Roughly April through NovemberThis is not an option during freezing months due to freezing pipes and lines.

Heat & AC

The Heat and AC can be set between 68 - 74 degrees.

Due to high humidity and moisture here, along with the massive amount of bugs, the windows and doors should NOT be left opened at the cabin for any reason. We do understand the desire for "cool mountain air" but please do just go outside:)

Guest will be held responsible for freezing or overworking of the unit due to leaving doors or windows opened.

TV

The TV will be a smartTV so you can login to your favorite applications to stream.

BBQ Grill

The cabin has a park-style charcoal grill

Fire-Pit

No Fire-pit here or advertised

Fireplace

We are trying to allow guests to utilize the fireplace but please note we reserve the right to discontinue at any moment. With the rise of vacation rentals it has become almost impossible to allow this amenity to be used any longer. Many insurance companies will no longer even cover if a fire occurs. We are sorry for the lengthy instructions but this is completely necessary for a short term rental.

Only use authorized fire starters, we have provided a few, to start the fire. NO accelerants such as lighter fluid, gas, etc should be used.

You should only use dry, bundled wood; not wood from outside.

You must remain in the dwelling until the fire is completely out. Do not start the fire unless you can be here for the duration.

Wood should remain in the fireplace.

Use the broom/dustpan to clean up any ashes that have spilled out of the fireplace. Hot coals should stay in the bucket.

If you are unsure how to start and/or put out an inside fire you should NOT start the fire.

Every store and other locations in the area have firewood.

Hot Tub

Maximum of 4 persons at a time in the hot tub and do not sit or place anything on the hot tub cover. Important: anyone under the age of 14 years old is NOT to be in the Hot Tub.

Please follow all rules pertaining to the hot tub. Please note dirty hot tub water from failing to comply with Hot Tub instructions will result in the loss of up to your entire deposit. Before entering the hot tub you MUST shower and have no oils and lotions on your body.

The Bromine feeder that is floating around MUST remain in the hot tub at all times.

Replace Hot Tub cover immediately after use.

The Hot Tub should operate at a temperature between 99 and 104 degrees. Changing the Hot Tub below this temperature will result in unsanitary water that will have to be drained.

There should be no food, drinks, smoking, etc in the hot tub.

Trash

- Please place garbage in the outside garbage containers.

- Bagged trash ONLY as there is no city trash pickup here.

- There is no need to move or take the garbage to the road.

- Trash pickup is usually on Thursdays but subject to change.

Linens

Bed linens are provided for each bed at the cabin.

Bunk Beds will NOT be made but will have linens available on the bed(if applicable).

Please do not strip beds or wash items upon departure. All laundry is done professionally off site.

Please note there are no extra blankets or linens at the cabin for sanitary and logistical reasons upon departure.

Towels

Towels: We provide the proper amount of bath towels and wash cloths per maximum number of guests.

Please place used bath towels and wash cloths in the laundry baskets.

Bedding: Bed linens, blankets, and two pillows per queen/king bed.

Please note the white wash cloths and bath towels as well as the hand towels should not be used for anything other than a normal showers and drying of hands.

There will be an additional charge for linens with dirt stains, colored residue, makeup stains, etc.

Kitchen

You should find all of the basic items you will need in the kitchen. Pots, pans, utensils, crockpot, etc

Specialty items needed for cooking, especially during longer stays, you will need to bring yourself. Please note that we do not provide leftover salt, pepper, oils, etc. That is unsanitary for us to leave out unfortunately.

- Dollar General in Ela, which is on the way to Cherokee along Hwy 19 just a few miles outside of Bryson City.

- Dollar General out towards Fontana Lake along Hwy 74

Cleaning Products

Cleaning Products Used - Just in case someone has sensitivities we like to disclose the cleaning products used between stays at the property.

- Odoban Disinfectant for surface cleaning

- Oxi-clean Scrubbing Bubbles - rotationally on showers

- Lysol Toilet Bowl Cleaner

- All linens are washed with high temperature, at a commercial laundromat.

Weather

Weather in the mountains can change drastically. This means thunderstorms in the Summer months and the possibility of snow in the winter months. Certain times of the year, mainly, January through March, there will always be the threat of snow.

Infants & Children

There is a crib and crib sheet in the upstairs bedroom closet. Please leave it there.

Please remember you are in a wilderness setting. There are many critters crawling around in the warmer months including venomous snakes and bears.

Gas smell or concern | Exit the property immediately if there is any type of gas smell in the cabin.

To shut off gas supply to the cabin please find the large propane tank outside. Turn the knob on top of the tank to the right.
