Four(4), per our local lodging license, fire code and house rules. The maximum number of guests allowed at the dwelling is the number agreed upon at the time of booking. Anything above this number is by law considered trespassing and by definition a "party" or “event”. There is to be no PARTIES or EVENTS what-so-ever and violation of this rule as laid out in the rental agreement will be subject to immediate eviction and loss of the security deposit. This includes all children and infants. Should you have any guests over the maximum occupancy there will be a $50 per person per night charge for the total number of nights booked and/or possible loss of deposit and immediate eviction. Prior approval must be given in advance for additional guests to be on the property. Any number of persons above the total maximum occupancy number will immediately be asked to leave the property.
Additional Guests - Not permitted. The maximum number of guests allowed at or in the dwelling is the number agreed upon at the time of booking. Prior approval must be given in advance for additional guests to be on the property. Should you not register all guests, we may not be able to check you in, your check-in may be delayed, and/or additional charges may apply.
PETS - Must be added to the reservation before check-in.
Pet Fee is $60 for up to two pets with a 2 pet maximum without prior approval.
Pets should be housebroken and are NOT allowed on any furniture or bedding whatsoever.
North Carolina law does not classify emotional support dogs as service animals. The pet fee and rules apply to emotional support dogs.
Guests will be held responsible for any damages caused by your pet or service animal. Any unauthorized pet caught on property will result in a $100 loss of security deposit.

Cell service is very limited at the cabin. Cell phone signal can be spotty in the area though so be prepared for that.

Written Direction:
When coming from Asheville on Highway 74 towards Bryson City take exit 72 for Whittier(Highway 19A) and continue to the stop sign at the end of that road(2.0 mile). Take a right onto Ela Road(Hwy 19) at the stop sign towards Cherokee. Drive .9 miles to take a right onto Ocona Blvd. You will see the sign for "Ocona Lake Estates" on the right at the entrance of the neighborhood. Drive up the curvy pavement and continue straight until the three way fork in the road. Take the road on the left, Riverside Drive, just under .4 miles until you see a side road that splits off to the right(Mountain Laurel Drive). We are the first house on the right. You will see a sign for the cabin there. Maintain a steady and slow speed on any mountain road.
2 Vehicle Maximum without prior approval.
Extra vehicles, motorcycles, campers, or trailers of any kind are not permitted without prior approval.
Side by sides, 4-wheel vehicles of any kind are also not permitted on the property.
This cabin is NOT motorcycle friendly due to the gravel roads
There should be NO campers, trailers, etc of any kind
There is an electronic keypad code to access the cabin. Your code will be sent to your email address on file two days prior to your arrival.

A few basic reminders, nothing crazy your on mountain time!
Check-out is by 10am.
1. Please take all trash to the outside bin.
2. Please load the dishwasher and do not leave dirty dishes.
3. Check for all personal items.
4. Turn off all lights, electronics, and lock the doors.
5. Safe travels home!
Please follow all rules pertaining to the hot tub.
Before entering the hot tub you MUST shower and have no oils and lotions on your body.
The Bromine feeder that is floating around MUST remain in the hot tub at all times.
Maximum of 2 persons at a time in the hot tub and do not sit or place anything on the hot tub cover.
Important: anyone under the age of 14 years old is NOT to be in the Hot Tub.
Replace Hot Tub cover immediately after use. Note that the hot tub will run to heat back up as well.
The Hot Tub should operate at a temperature between 99 and 104 degrees.
Changing the Hot Tub below this temperature will result in unsanitary water that will have to be drained. There should be no food, drinks, smoking, etc in the hot tub.
The Heat and AC can be set between 68 - 74 degrees.
Due to high humidity and moisture here, along with the massive amount of bugs, the windows and doors should NOT be left opened at the cabin for any reason. We do understand the desire for "cool mountain air" but please do just go outside:)
Guest will be held responsible for freezing or overworking of the unit due to leaving doors or windows opened.
The TV will be a smartTV so you can login to your favorite applications to stream.
The cabin has a park-style charcoal grill
We are in a class 10 fire district so...
Fires should not be left unattended for any reason whatsoever.
We may send out a text to immediately discontinue usage of the outside fire pit when we receive safety alerts from local officials.
There are places to purchase bundles of firewood at just about every gas station, grocery store, and everything in between in the area. Many guests also use sticks, twigs, and such from around the property which is also perfectly fine with us.
There is a gas wood stove at the cabin.
The fireplace pilot light will be on from October through beginning of March.

Bed linens are provided for each bed at the cabin.
Bunk Beds will NOT be made but will have linens available on the bed(if applicable).
Please do not strip beds or wash items upon departure. All laundry is done professionally off site.
Please note there are no extra blankets or linens at the cabin for sanitary and logistical reasons upon departure.
Towels: We provide the proper amount of bath towels and wash cloths per maximum number of guests.
Please place used bath towels and wash cloths in the laundry baskets.
Bedding: Bed linens, blankets, and two pillows per queen/king bed.
Please note the white wash cloths and bath towels as well as the hand towels should not be used for anything other than a normal showers and drying of hands.
There will be an additional charge for linens with dirt stains, colored residue, makeup stains, etc.
You should find all of the basic items you will need in the kitchen. Pots, pans, utensils, crockpot, etc
Specialty items needed for cooking, especially during longer stays, you will need to bring yourself. Please note that we do not provide leftover salt, pepper, oils, etc. That is unsanitary for us to leave out unfortunately.

Cleaning Products Used - Just in case someone has sensitivities we like to disclose the cleaning products used between stays at the property.
- Odoban Disinfectant for surface cleaning
- Oxi-clean Scrubbing Bubbles - rotationally on showers
- Lysol Toilet Bowl Cleaner
- All linens are washed with high temperature, at a commercial laundromat.
Weather in the mountains can change drastically. This means thunderstorms in the Summer months and the possibility of snow in the winter months. Certain times of the year, mainly, January through March, there will always be the threat of snow.
There is a crib and crib sheet in the upstairs bedroom closet. Please leave it there.
Please remember you are in a wilderness setting. There are many critters crawling around in the warmer months including venomous snakes and bears.

Gas smell or concern | Exit the property immediately if there is any type of gas smell in the cabin.
To shut off gas supply to the cabin please find the large propane tank outside. Turn the knob on top of the tank to the right.
